In terms of my work, my agent books for me because I have several clients who do scenes for me. I usually make anywhere from$ 900 to$ 2, 500 each time, depending on what kind of scene it is.

However, I also make money by releasing my own amateur content to YouTube channels like PornHub and participating in solo cam shows. I make tips from the tube sites and ad revenue from the site.

S: Could you explain a little about what a camshow is?

J: Oh, yes. For those who don’t know, a cam [short for webcam ] show is essentially a live performance hosted by a cam website. They’re a great way for amateurs in porn to make money, because you can do them with or without a studio. It’s cheap to make, and many viewers enjoy it because it has that authentic feel. There’s also no reshooting or editing involved.

Personally, I have really great fans, and I love interacting with them on social media. However, there is undoubtedly a branding component to being in porn that many people are unaware of. I make an effort to reciprocate my appreciation by hosting private shows and giveaways whenever possible.

S: Do you find it challenging to have a good work-life balance in this industry? What does a typical week entail?

J: To be honest, it varies. This week I spent two days camming for like, three hours each, but I also have a scene scheduled for this Thursday. I’ll likely spend Friday and Saturday doing yoga and going to the beach with myself. I’ve never had a 9 to 5 job, so I have nothing to compare this to! That could take anywhere from eight to 10 hours of my day, maybe even 12 depending on what they need. However, despite constantly interacting with fans and potential viewers online, I believe I have a pretty good balance when it comes to separating work and real life.

And when I use social media, I make an effort to be as authentically ”me” as possible because I like to remind people that I’m a human being, not just a pornstar!

This is why it’s also important, at least, for me, to have relationships with people outside the industry. However, for the most part, I’m probably at home doing nothing if I’m not filming porn or doing yoga. I have a lot of really good friends who support me and what I’m doing, and I do the same for them.

S: When it comes to filming, do you have to pay for your work-related expenses like makeup, waxing, etc., or do you have a glam squad?

J: Haha, glam squad is a bit of a stretch, but as far as larger studio shoots go, there are usually make-up artists and stylists. Sometimes, especially if a call time is very early, my agent has to bargain with producers about this. That’s not always the case, though.

And when I first started, I was bringing my own clothes and lingerie to shoots along with my own hair and makeup. Since so many people are producing their own content, that probably falls under that category.

But if you’re asking about things like breast implants, then, yeah, some women do invest money into that before they even join the industry, but that’s their choice. Yes, you are paying for it, but I don’t think that’s bad because you get paid$ 12 per week. The same applies to waxing.

For what it’s worth, though, I do pay my taxes, just like any other professional. I’ve definitely made jokes about the hair extensions I received for a scene and the business write-offs I feel like I deserve. However, sadly, my agent incorrectly informed me that they don’t count.

S: What’s your average take-home pay per month? Does it matter whether people pay for porn or watch ads-free on big websites?

J: The simplest way for me to explain this is that piracy is a bitch. When people watch videos from big tube sites that aren’t shared by a verified user, then that means the performer isn’t actually making any money. Who will ultimately take it from them?

Depending on how much I work, I currently make anywhere from$ 5, 000 to$ 10, 000 per month. I did deposit$ 2200 for Thursday’s field.

S: In your occupation, did you ever feel like you had ”officially” made it? How does it compare to your initial employment in the field?
